Why do we play and collect retro video games?
What is so special about retro gaming? Why do some of us crave the memories and nostalgia that retro games bring?
Is it just an addiction to dusty old games or is retro game collecting more special than that?

Retro gaming is the craze. Seeing a boom in the past 5 – 10 years. More and more people are on a mission to build a huge retro game collection.
Just a quick search of the term game room tour and you’ll find hundreds if not thousands of game room tours every year from around the world! But why?
Despite retro games containing some of the best video games ever made. What else drives us to not only play retro games, but also collect them? Nostalgia. But what exactly about nostalgia drive us to go out retro video game hunting?

Riff form the Pixel Game Squad asked just this question on the Pxiel Game Squad YouTube channel. And he gave a fantastic and touching story about his life life and his personal reasons as to why retro? This is my personal reason to the question. Why retro?

Hehe, "retrospective perspective" xD
Also…would love to talk game development with you man, I am looking into getting into that space as well. If you get a chance shoot me a message on Twitter
Awesome video man and you made some fantastic points! I need to check out your game Glo! I love supporting Indie devs! Is the Gym game out yet?
Awesome stuff mate!… Not 3 bad games to start your ps1 journey too!
Great video, I relate to everything your saying 👍
Great video man! There's definitely something to be said about approaching a game with very little knowledge about it. Seems like nowadays game companies divulge so much information about a game before it releases that there aren't very many surprises left when you actually play the game. Whenever I'm really excited for an upcoming game I intentionally stay away from the sneak peeks and gameplay teasers. The mystery is half the fun!
ahh man great vid. yeah i love to go back to the retro games here and there although as a kid i never really knew what games were coming out or what games existed for a console until ps2/gamecube so pretty much any games on the ps1/mega drive/nes/snes/n64 were always a pleasant surprise for me. its only really now that i enjoy the hype of new game releases.
and indie games for me are much like my early gaming days i don't know what's coming next in advance i don't know if they will be good but i can't help jumping in and finding out. which is where my new series will be great as i will be showcasing 3 indie games per episode and each episode will be constricted to a game genre. and of course we will return to genres to cover more games XD
Woah, retrospective perspective, I like it! 🙂 I never saw it that way bro, but you make very some good points. I remember the days where you took a chance and hope for the best when you rented/bought games. Breaking games were fun! Great times!
Very historic! Love the video bro! 🙂
Great video bro, liked 👍
I totally enjoy the older games than the new ones.
Nostalgia is a powerful drug my friend. Some of the games we played growing up weren’t good at all compared to the games of today, but they filled our lives with joy nonetheless. Great video!
Retro games are the best!
I do love a bit of Fortnite every so often but you can't beat Mario!
Great video Chronik. Nothing beats nostalgia. So many great gaming memories even if the games don't always hold up. Being a gamer is honestly a really cool experience
